Customized Composite and Porcelain Veneers
One of the most dramatic methods available to transform a person’s smile is through customized dental veneers.
Veneers come in a variety of options, all which allow us to mask the embarrassment of teeth that are:
- Chipped, worn, or uneven
- Gapped or crowded
- Stained and discolored
- Flawed in appearance
What Are Veneers?
A veneer is a thin shell of porcelain or composite material that is bonded over the front of your tooth. In most cases, we place several veneers side-by-side across the teeth that are visible when you smile or laugh. For some people, six to eight veneers across the upper anterior teeth are adequate.
If you don’t like the way your teeth look and it prevents you from engaging in social events, posing for pictures, or even smiling around your family, veneers offer a simple and effective fix.
Types of Dental Veneers Available in Vancouver
Ranieu Family Dental offers two types of veneers for our patients to choose from:
Thanks to our local lab and ceramist, our porcelain veneers are second to none. If you like, it’s also possible for you to visit the lab location here in town so that your veneers can be custom matched to any adjacent teeth. Porcelain offers the best aesthetic results for more complex smile makeover needs.
Composite (Chairside) Veneers
These veneers are made and applied to your teeth in the same day. They’re created from tooth-colored composite, similar to white fillings. This makes them a faster, budget-friendly alternative to traditional veneers. Our dentist preps your tooth, shapes the composite over the enamel, and then cures it into place with a bright light.
The Treatment Experience
As most of our patients choose porcelain veneers, the process will typically require two to three visits to complete.
After your initial consultation, we will set up a preparation appointment. During this visit, we will adjust the teeth and take an impression. Then, temporary veneers are placed over your smile to prevent any sensitivity or aesthetic concerns. Our dentist will assist you in choosing the final shape and color of your permanent veneers, and then send the models to our in-town lab.
Approximately one week later, your permanent veneers will be ready. We will remove the temporary veneers and cement each of the porcelain veneers in place. Instantly, you’ll have a brand new smile that looks straighter and whiter than ever before.
Preparing for Veneer Treatment
Depending on how many veneers you are getting, we may recommend professionally whitening your teeth before having your veneers made. This way, your new smile and the untreated teeth will all match. In certain cases, we may also recommend white fillings or porcelain crowns to repair areas of decay.
After your veneer treatment, we recommend wearing a custom night guard when you sleep. This helps to protect the new restorations from any chips or wear that may occur from grinding.
